| Link popularity is a concept of measuring
the importance of a web page by a search engine as a component of
its search engine ranking criteria. It is important to emphasize that
it is but one criterion of many factors and by itself is not enough
to reach high-ranking positions. But is an important factor.
The concept was mostly pioneered by Google which now calls its
version of link popularity…PageRank (PR) which is trademarked.
Simply described, link popularity is a measurement of the combined
value of links to your website from other websites. Think of a link
as a “vote” cast by one web page for another.
However, not all votes are equal. Votes from pages that themselves
have high link popularity carries more voting transfer than votes
from lower link popularity sites. Votes from pages that
are relevant to a receiving page also carry greater value versus
non-relevant links.
If you expect to strengthen ranking potential, inbound links are
crucial. Links from relevant web pages will increase that potential
dramatically. Staying ahead of your competition mandates that a
link popularity campaign is continuously ongoing. Marketleap’s
Link Popularity Check is a great tool that measures a website’s
visibility compared to competing websites that becomes a basic benchmark
of comparative ranking potential.
We extend our appreciation to Marketleap for making its link popularity
